PRESS RELEASE: Fiske Family Foundation Gifts $41,000 to Seven Wolfeboro-Area Non-Profit Organizations to Support Education and Recreation
Wolfeboro, N.H. – November 29, 2021 – Today, the Fiske Family Foundation announced a series of gifts totaling more than $41,000 for seven Wolfeboro-area and Lake Winnipesaukee-area non-profit organizations. In line with the Fiske Family Foundation’s mission, the gifts are intended to support education and recreation for all. This month alone, the Foundation gifted a total of $35,000 which has been designated for six Wolfeboro-area organizations. For the year, the Fiske Family Foundation has gifted more than $85,000 in philanthropic donations.

“Hey everybody,” he says as he takes off his hat. “It’s Second Chance, and I have some news to share with you all.”
It’s the first video on the YouTube channel started by Cory McDonald to document and share his weight-loss and lifestyle-change journey along the Pacific Crest Trail. The video is titled “I Think I Should Quit? 200 Pounds Overweight. The Pacific Crest Trail.” He goes on.
“I’ve come to the realization…” he furrows his brow. “After my first four days only making it 7.3 miles… Day 5 afternoon time, I’m exhausted. It’s rainy, it’s cold, my tent almost blew over last night…” It doesn’t sound good.
“And so I have some news that some people are definitely not gonna like,” he stalls, looking at the ground. “And, the truth is…” he pauses for a beat before straightening up and smiling straight at the camera.
“I’m not gonna quit!” He immediately folds into a fit of laughter at his fake-out of the audience, our first dose of what would become a sort of signature: the infectious chuckle of a mildly self-deprecating, relentlessly positive personality.

Of all the people living with cancer, teens receive the least amount of support. We provide direct financial aid to help motivated young survivors complete high school, pay for college, and build the life they want to live.
The Ruth Cheatham Foundation provides dozens of scholarships each year, working directly with students to understand their hopes, wants, and needs. Thanks to the support of our donors and corporate partners, we provided scholarships to 50 students in 2020, up from 25 the previous year.
